Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a tried and tested healthcare system that has been practised in China for thousands of years.  Research supporting acupuncture is growing rapidly and it is now used by many, to complement their existing healthcare provision, or as a well-being treatment.  Acupuncture works through balancing hormones, stimulating the release of endorphins and affecting the levels of red and white blood cell counts.  In Chinese Medicine theory, when energy (Qi) becomes blocked, then illness or pain can occur.  Acupuncture addresses these underlying imbalances and stimulates the body's natural healing response.

During Traditional Acupuncture treatment a detailed consultation will be taken from you, and your pulses and tongue will be examined.  This information will enable a diagnosis to be made and your bespoke treatment plan will be formed, this will focus on targeting the root cause of your symptoms and also aim to improve your overall health and well-being.

The ultra -thin needles will be inserted in specific points on the body and left in place for 20-30 minutes.  Most people find acupuncture to be a relaxing, painless experience and some even fall asleep.  Moxa and cupping will also be used to complement your treatment where appropriate, this will be discussed with you prior to treatment.
